February 22, 2021 - COVID-19 Update - Message from the Mayor

We continue to see a decline in positive cases in Franklin Lakes, but we still had another 12 over the last week. Further good news is that we now see the number of active cases in town drop to about 40; it had been over 100 just two weeks ago. The virus is still spreading so we still have to take every precaution to slow the spread and keep people healthy, but the trend is encouraging.

Franklin Lakes Positive Tests

Vaccines are more abundant now and appointments are available but still very limited. There have been some delays in delivery due to weather across the nation but they expect to catch up with canceled appointments relatively soon. Keep trying to get an appointment! Over 1.5 million vaccines have been administered in New Jersey thusfar and the number of vaccination sites continue to grow. It does take two doses of the vaccines currently in use to be more fully protected against the virus and it takes a few weeks after vaccination for your body to build an immune response. So, we still have a ways to go before we see the full effect of vaccinations.

Keep safe and thank you for your continued efforts to keep Franklin Lakes safe!

Mayor Frank Bivona
