Recycling Compliance Program

As part of the Borough's ongoing effort to increase the levels of recycling within the town, the recycling compliance program is designed to remind residents that there is a Borough ordinance (Borough Code 411-5) which requires them to separate recyclable materials from garbage. On days when garbage is collected, if significant amounts of cardboard or other recyclable materials are noticed with the trash, a sticker will be placed on the garbage can reminding the resident of the requirements of the Borough ordinance. The trash will still be collected.

How Can I Donate Furniture?

Bergen Volunteers “Making It Home” Program
The most efficient way to inquire about donating furniture is to send an email to Cynthia at cmassarsky@bergenvolunteers.org. Please include good photos of your items, measurements of any sofas and dining tables, the address where the furniture is located, your phone, and time frame for pick-up. Then we’ll be able to determine if the pieces are appropriate for our clients and schedule a pick-up date (Monday-Friday only, no weekends).  Please allow sufficient time for pick-up (ideally 2 to 3 weeks). Staff is present at each pick-up and records the information necessary to provide a receipt for tax purposes.
