§ 411-6.2 Recycling depot regulations:
- Dropping off recyclables or any other items at any time other than during the hours of operation is strictly prohibited and shall be a violation of this section.
- Recyclables shall be separated in accordance with the signage at the recycling depot. Failure to separate recyclables in accordance with the signage shall be a violation of this section.
- Recycling depot may be used only by Franklin Lakes residents.
Electronic Waste
Electronic waste recycling can be dropped off at the Recycling Center located at 500 DeKorte Drive (behind Police HQ), Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Call the DPW at 201-891-4333 for assistance.
Please make sure you have removed all personal information from items being left in the electronic waste container at the Recycling Center. This includes personal data be cleared and wiped from computers, laptops, cell phones, iPads, tablets or any electronic devices that may contain your personal data.

Battery Recycling
- Household Batteries: Alkaline batteries (AA, AAA, C, D, 9V) are disposed of as normal garbage.
- Rechargeable Batteries: Place each rechargeable battery in a separate plastic bag at a drop-off box located at the DPW at 500 DeKorte Drive.

Clothing Recycling
We are now able to offer textile recycling at the Recycling Center at the DPW (behind Police Headquarters). Residents can place old clothes, shoes, sheets, towels in any condition from nearly new to old and damaged in the bins. The Borough will receive payment, currently $100 per ton from Planet Aid for the textiles. Additionally, any textiles which don't go into the landfill will benefit the environment and reduce the cost to the Borough of garbage disposal. Book Recycling
Now available are book recycling at the Recycling Center at the DPW. Residents can place books in any condition in the bins and the Borough will receive payment $40 per ton of books from Planet Aid. Additionally any books which don’t go into the landfill will benefit the environment and reduce the cost to the Borough of tipping garbage at the landfill.
The Recycling Center also accepts Paper/Cardboard, Commingled Plastic/Metal/Glass, and Metal/Appliances.
