Library Director

From the Library Board of Trustees
The Franklin Lakes Public Library Board of Trustees announces the retirement of Gerry McMahon, our Library Director, effective August 1, 2021, after almost 40 years of outstanding service to our Borough.
Gerry joined our Library in 1982 as Children's Librarian and developed an excellent collection of books and fun learning programs that children not only enjoyed then, but still speak about glowingly today. Those successes led to her promotion to Library Director in 2003.

As Library Director, Gerry was instrumental in our major capital campaign that significantly expanded our attractive facility. Over the years, Gerry took on leadership roles in BCCLS, the Bergen County consortium of libraries. Gerry was active on many committees, and she provided knowledgeable and experienced leadership helping to keep libraries as an invaluable learning, educational, and meeting resource in our Borough and throughout the County. Most recently, Gerry led our library through the pandemic closing and opening processes, enabling the Library to continue to service our patrons during that difficult time.

The Board thanks Gerry for her years of leadership and tireless devotion to branding our Library as one of the best in the State of New Jersey. We wish her an enjoyable retirement and hope to see her checking on the collection at our library.

We are also pleased to welcome Kerri Wallace, our new Franklin Lakes Library Director who will join us on July 6, 2021. Kerri has an outstanding career with 20 years of library experience in both city and suburban communities. Most recently, Kerri was Circulation Supervisor and Outreach Services Librarian in the Ridgewood Public Library. Her prior work included Children and Youth Services in New York and New Jersey libraries.

Kerri excels in community outreach activities successfully increasing patron participation in library programs. We look forward to adding Kerri's enthusiasm and love for library services to the Franklin Lakes Library team. We know that Kerri has exciting plans to meet and gather input on expanding our services from our Library staff, Borough residents and businesses.

Thank you and good luck Gerry, you will be missed.

A warm welcome to Kerri, we are excited to work together with you and your staff on furthering our Library's status as a premier library in the State.
