Help Reduce the Mosquito Population
Bergen County Mosquito Control Division is asking for our help to reduce the mosquito population. Besides mosquitoes being a nuisance, they can also be dangerous during this time of the year when West Nile Virus is prevalent. Bergen County has had over eight inches of rain this month which increases the risk for mosquito breeding around your home.
Please remove standing water on your property to help reduce the mosquito population and use the mosquito habitat checklist to help find and eliminate all the places that mosquitoes breed around your home. Containers that hold water can be a home for mosquito larvae. After seven days, larvae will emerge as adult mosquitoes. Remember to stay vigilant and to keep containers free of standing water all year long.
