Message from the Mayor
Since the start of the pandemic early last year, we have worked hard to use our communication channels to keep you updated and informed on the impact in our Borough. Our primary goal has been to keep people as safe as possible while continuing to operate the business and activities in the Borough within the applicable guidelines. Sadly, over 1,000 residents contracted the virus to date and some lives were lost. However, we are now seeing welcome signs that we are nearing the end - virtually no new cases, wide access to vaccinations and an end to most restrictions.
This doesn't mean that the pandemic is over, nor does it mean that you should not take precautions to protect yourself and your families. It does mean that things are getting back to normal and the need for my regular updates to you on the subject of CVOID-19 are no longer necessary. Thank you for your incredible patience, cooperation and diligence during this very difficult period.
With the announcement of restrictions being lifted in time for Memorial Day, we have decided to hold an in-person ceremony for this solemn holiday to honor those lost in service to our country. The ceremony will feature a salute to those lost in service to our country and a dedication of our new gazebo in Veterans Plaza to a veteran and long-time Franklin Lakes volunteer fireman, Jack Willer, who passed last year.
Following the ceremonies, we will have food and refreshments for all who attend. Of course Memorial Day marks the start of summer, family picnics and barbecues - but what better way to start the day than with a salute to those who gave their lives so that we can enjoy the days ahead and live in freedom. Please see the link below for details of our Memorial Day event.
And thank you for all you have done through this difficult period. Be safe and enjoy the summer.
