Cigna Property Update - Court Approves Settlement Agreements and Ordinance 1927
At the “Fairness Hearing” held on October 24, 2023, the Honorable Christine A. Farrington, J.S.C. conditionally approved the Borough’s settlement agreements with SHG Franklin Lakes, LLC (“SHG”), and the Fair Share Housing Center. The approval was memorialized by Order Approving Settlement Agreements dated November 2, 2023.
Pursuant to the Mount Laurel doctrine, the Court has determined that the agreements are fair and reasonable for low and moderate income households and has preliminarily determined that the proposed projects on the SHG site create a realistic opportunity for affordable housing. The conditions include adoption of Ordinance No. 1927, which is scheduled for public hearing and adoption at the Mayor and Council meeting on Thursday, November 9, at 7:30 pm, in the Council Chambers at Borough Hall.
