Police Chief For a Day
From Police Department
Our newly minted Police Chief, Michael Norman, age 8 of Franklin Lakes, took charge of our department and got right to work.
Chief Norman is a 2nd grade student at Colonial Road School. Chief Norman was diagnosed with Leukemia and his twin sister Julianna saved his life by donating her bone marrow for his transplant. Chief Norman’s parents, Michael and Christina, were also present to see his swearing in ceremony with Mayor Charles J. X. Kahwaty, recent FLPD Chief McCombs and Borough council members.
Chief Norman had a busy day with his fellow Bergen County Police Chiefs. He inspected the Bergen County Regional SWAT BearCat, BCSD mounted unit, FLPD’s Humvee and checked on the traffic situation in the borough.
The Chief for a Day program comes together every year when the Sheriff’s Office, Prosecutor’s Office and local police departments pick children who are experiencing chronic health conditions and gives them a behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement. View picture album.
Our officers, borough employees and residents salute you Chief Norman!
