Test Your Well Water for Contaminants

From the Board of Health
The Borough of Franklin Lakes encourages residents with private wells to test their well water for contaminants. The State of New Jersey recommends that New Jersey residents have their well water tested once a year by a State certified lab because there are a variety of pollutants that can find their way into our private well water which can have adverse effects on our health.

The Borough of Franklin Lakes Municipal Private Well Testing Act (PWTA) Report shows the percent of tested wells that exceed maximum contaminant levels for the wells tested under PWTA between 2002 and 2018. The report, along with resources on contaminants, remediation and a list of certified drinking water testing labs, is available at www.franklinlakes.org/testwellwater. The cost of well water testing varies. Confirm pricing prior to scheduling an appointment.
