Remembering Mike DeGall
On Monday, January 26, we lost a long-time member of our Borough family. Mike DeGall, a Franklin Lakes Department of Public Works member for over 15 years, passed away suddenly. Mike was a dedicated hard-working employee from the day he started literally to the day he died. He had been plowing the Borough’s streets just hours before his untimely death. The Borough family and our residents benefitted from Mike’s steady consistent work, his talents and ingenuity. Mike was kind and thoughtful, and would take on any task without hesitation.
The members of the Borough’s DPW work so closely together every day and many long nights and his presence will be missed in so many ways. The DPW family has lived through so much over the years. Losing Mike is so hard on all of the DPW family and on all of us at the Borough. Of course, it is Mike’s family that is so tragically impacted by his loss. He is survived by his wife, Kelly (they were just recently married), his brothers, Rick and Jack, and his sister, Lorraine.
We were blessed to have Mike in our lives. He gave so much. The Borough family extends our deepest condolences to Mike’s wife, Kelly, and his family. Flags have been lowered to half staff at Borough Hall and at DPW in recognition of Mike’s service and his contributions to the Franklin Lakes community.
