Franklin Lakes Commuter Parking Lot at Parsons Pond Park - Parking Permits
The main bus stop in Franklin Lakes is located at Parsons Pond Road. A parking permit is required for all vehicles parked in the lot Monday to Friday, from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Overnight parking is prohibited.
Visit the SDL Portal at sdl.town/FranklinLakes and follow the detailed directions below to renew or apply for a Franklin Lakes Commuter Parking Lot permit.
Applying for your Commuter Parking Lot Parking Permit
If you are new to SDL, create an account first. (Note that the SDL Portal is also used to renew pet licenses so you may already have an account.)
- Visit sdl.town/FranklinLakes
- Click the sign up button in the upper right corner
- Enter Franklin Lakes Borough as your primary town
- Click the activation link in the email sent to the address you provided
Once your account is active:
- Visit sdl.town/FranklinLakes and select Parking Permit
- Complete fields for vehicle information, applicant information, and vehicle registration
- Upload a copy of vehicle's registration
- If applying as Resident, upload copy of a utility bill as proof of residency
- Submit your request
- You will receive confirmation on fees and payment options when your application is accepted by a town official
Paying for your Commuter Parking Lot Parking Permit
Once you receive your emailed invoice, you can pay:
- Online: Through the secure SDL portal with a credit card or e-check. Portal payments incur convenience fees: Credit card payments, $3.00; E-checks, $1.50.
- By Mail: Send required documents and check made payable to Borough of Franklin Lakes, ATTN: Commuter Parking, 480 DeKorte Drive, Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417.
- In Person: Visit the Borough Clerk's office between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. weekdays. Cash is not being accepted at this time.
- Renewal stickers will be mailed to the applicant or issued in person to apply to your hangtag.
Fees
Parking permits are issued for a period of one year from January 1 to December 31 and are transferable to other registered vehicles.
- Rates: Residents $50; Non-Resident $310; Replacement Tag $10
- Convenience Fees: Credit card payments $3.00; E-checks $1.50
- Cash payments are not accepted – if paying in person, only check or credit card will be accepted
Parking Restrictions
- The issuance of a parking tag does not guarantee that a parking space will be available
- Tags shall be issued on a first-come-first-served basis. No more than 40 non-resident parking permits will be issued.
- Overnight parking is prohibited.
- Between 6 AM and 2 PM, Monday through Friday, parking is permitted only by persons possessing and displaying a current parking tag.
- Parking tag must be displayed on the rearview mirror when parked in the lot with the tag number facing out to enable it to be read through the front of the vehicle.
- The deadline for renewals is December 31.
