During a routine patrol, Officer Coia encountered a disabled vehicle on Colonial Road. The driver, Catherine J. HOLT age 23 of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ informed the officer that she had run out of gas. Upon further investigation, it was determined that HOLT was operating the vehicle under the influence. HOLT was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence and issued multiple traffic summonses. PO Coia and PO Heffner investigated. Criminal charges and traffic violations are merely allegations and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Franklin Lakes Police received a call for a motor vehicle crash involving an unoccupied parked vehicle near Franklin Ave and Pulis Ave. The caller reported the suspect vehicle had left the scene. Officers were quickly able to locate the suspect vehicle that had struck the parked vehicle. Their investigation revealed that the driver of a white 2023 Honda Accord, Arlene E. MUTZBERG age 69 of Franklin Lakes, NJ was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence and issued multiple traffic summonses. There were no injuries to report. PO Garrison and PO Rosado investigated. GEORGE age 27 of Franklin Lakes, NJ under arrest for a warrant emanating from Jersey City, NJ and Anthony J. WAYE age 33 of Franklin Lakes, NJ under arrest for a warrant emanating from Hudson County without incident. GEORGE was released to Jersey City Police and WAYE was released to Hudson County Sheriff’s Office. Sgt. Blum, PO Sweeney and PO Lauritano investigated.

FLPD officers received custody of GONZALEZ-COLON and he was transported to the Bergen County Jail.

NATALIE age 39 of Washington Twp, NJ was charged and arrested for driving while intoxicated and issued multiple summonses including refusing to submit to breath testing. PO Garrison, Sgt. Officers were dispatched to a business on Franklin Avenue in response to a report of a suspicious male attempting to reclaim a lost credit card. Employees of the establishment determined that the individual was being untruthful, denied his request, and contacted FLPD. Upon arrival, PO Foschini conducted an investigation and identified the suspect. A complaint warrant was issued for Aisaih ALVAREZ age 27 of Englewood, NJ charging him with criminal attempt, theft by deception, impersonation, and credit card theft. At approximately 9:00 PM, the New Jersey State Police notified FLPD that they had arrested ALVAREZ. FLPD officers received custody of ALVAREZ and he was subsequently transported to the Bergen County Jail. Communications received a report of an activated smoke alarm at 962 Arapaho Trail. Franklin Lakes Police and Fire were dispatched. Upon arrival officers observed smoke and fire emanating from the structure and confirmed occupants of the residence were safely evacuated. They were medically evaluated on-site and determined to require no medical attention. Three dogs were also successfully evacuated from the residence but two cats perished in the fire despite rescue efforts. Fire departments from Oakland, Ramsey, Wyckoff, Mahwah, Midland Park and North Haledon also responded to assist with firefighting efforts. The Franklin Lakes Ambulance Corps and Valley Hospital ALS were also on scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and no further information is available at this time.

Franklin Lakes PD received a 911 transfer reporting a motor vehicle crash involving a utility pole in the area of High Mountain Rd and Summit Ave. Officers were dispatched and located 2023 Toyota sport utility vehicle that struck a utility pole causing significant damage to the vehicle and pole. Upon further investigation, Officers determined the sole occupant/operator was driving the vehicle under the influence. James E HORNBY age 40 of Mahwah, NJ was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and issued multiple traffic summonses. PO Rosado and Sgt. Blum investigated. Officers located the individual near the exit of the business, investigation revealed Mirela Hessen SERBAN age 43 of Bogota, NJ had two outstanding warrants emanating from Brick and Manalapan, NJ. Officers determined there was no medical emergency and the operator, Vanessa MASTRANGELO age 47 of Franklin Lakes, NJ, was driving while intoxicated and arrested. MASTRANGELO was charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of CDS and several motor vehicle offenses. Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of STEPHEN BOJEKIAN, 69, of Franklin Lakes, NJ, on the charge of possession of child sexual abuse material. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck.
On Thursday, October 17, 2024, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of STEPHEN BOJEKIAN during the course of an Internet child sexual abuse material investigation. The investigation revealed that BOJEKIAN used the Internet to view, download, and possess items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children.
As a result of the investigation, STEPHEN BOJEKIAN was arrested on Thursday, October 17, 2024, in Paramus, NJ and charged with third-degree possession of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(b)(iii). BOJEKIAN was remanded to the Morris County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella thanks the Franklin Lakes Police Department and New Jersey State Police for their assistance, as well as the Woodcliff Lake and Washington Township Police Departments, which both participate in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force.

Franklin Lakes officers were dispatched to the intersection of Franklin Lake Rd and Scholar Ct after receiving notification via SPEN Radio on a report of a crashed electric bicycle. Responding officers found the operator seated on the curb next to the electric bicycle. Upon further investigation, officers arrested and charged Glen T. GARDNER age 50 of Oakland, NJ with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to breath tests and issued multiple summonses. Sgt. Blum, PO Tani and PO Hill investigated. Franklin Lakes officers were dispatched to Rt 208 north near the Colonial Rd exit after receiving a 911 call regarding a vehicle stopped in a lane of travel. PO Tani located the 2004 Honda Accord stopped in the center lane of Rt 208 north obstructing the passage of traffic, the male driver was awoken by PO Tani. Upon further investigation, officers located suspected heroin in the vehicle and placed the driver Darren DOMENICI age 40 of Tuxedo Park, NY under arrest for possession of CDS and driving under the influence, DOMENICI was issued additional summonses for driving while suspended, possessing CDS in a motor vehicle, operating an unregistered vehicle, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to exhibit documents and delaying traffic. PO Tani and PO Rosado investigated. DOMENICI was previously arrested by Franklin Lakes Police on 04/18/2024 on Rt 208 south for driving under the influence, possession of CDS, tampering with evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and hindering apprehension. Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of CLYDE JOHNSON, 26, of Fair Lawn, NJ on charges of false public alarm. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck.
In March 2024, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit and Intelligence and Counterterrorism Unit initiated an investigation into a pattern of anonymous hoax phone calls and emails directed to crisis centers, local businesses, and law enforcement agencies regarding an individual armed with a deadly weapon or explosive. The investigation revealed that in January, March and April 2024, CLYDE JOHNSON made false reports via phone and email affecting locations and law enforcement agencies in Bergen County, NJ, specifically Franklin Lakes, Paramus, Wyckoff, Maywood, Fair Lawn, Fort Lee, and Bergenfield.
As a result of the investigation, CLYDE JOHNSON was charged with four counts of second-degree false public alarm, N.J.S.A 2C:33-3a(1)(b); third-degree attempted false public alarm, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1a(1) / 2C:33-3a(1)(b); and third-degree false public alarm, N.J.S.A 2C:33-3a(1)(a). With the coordination and assistance of the New York City Police Department and U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, CLYDE JOHNSON was arrested on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in Queens, New York. JOHNSON was remanded to the Queens County Jail, awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Officers were dispatched to the area of Aztec Trail on a report of a vehicle that struck a mailbox. Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop investigation on the suspect vehicle and the operator, Gazmen ZIBA age 61 of Wayne, NJ was arrested for driving under the influence and issued multiple traffic summonses. Franklin Lakes officers were dispatched to Rt 208 North near the I-287 interchange for 3 car motor vehicle crash. Upon determining no injuries occurred to any occupants, officers continued their investigation and determined the operator of the vehicle that initiated the crash was under the influence. Christopher MARTINELLI age 24 of Pompton Plains, NJ was issued several traffic summonses and arrested for driving under the influence, possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia. PO O’Brien, Sgt. Pellegrino and Det. Blum investigated. Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of KEWIN SEPULVEDA (DOB: 06/17/1994; single; massage therapist) of 398 Sussex Street, Paterson, NJ on a charge of sexual assault. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Franklin Lakes Police Department under the direction of Chief Mark McCombs.
On Saturday, January 13, 2024, the Franklin Lakes Police Department received information that KEWIN SEPULVEDA engaged in sexual activity with an individual while giving a massage at the Hand and Stone Spa in Franklin Lakes, NJ on the previous day. An investigation was initiated by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Franklin Lakes Police Department.
As a result of the investigation, on Thursday, January 18, 2024, KEWIN SEPULVEDA was arrested in Paramus, NJ and charged with second-degree sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(1). SEPULVEDA was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Franklin Lakes Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
