Franklin Lakes offers some of the "best schools for your housing buck" nationwide according to Forbes.com this week. The Web site posted a list ranking the top 25 U.S. areas where parents can find the best schools at various home prices, including the 2009 national median of $178,000. The report used test scores, Advanced Placement offerings, graduation rates and other factors in its ratings. In Franklin Lakes, the median home price is $939,920. The other New Jersey winner is Basking Ridge, with a median price of $628,100. The winner with the cheapest homes was Allison Park, Pa. The most expensive was New Canaan, Conn.
