Yard Waste Recycling

Dates: April 1 to November 30

Collection Days: 
     Monday for residents with a Tuesday - Friday garbage collection schedule
     Tuesday for residents with a Monday - Thursday garbage collection schedule

Allow Gaeta Recycling two days to pick up yard waste. If your yard waste has not be collected by the end of Wednesday, e-mail garbage@franklinlakes.org or call 201-891-4000, ext. 3700.

Get Your Free Yard Waste Bags

The Borough is distributing brown yard waste bags to residents that were purchased with funding from the State’s Clean Communities Program. Each household is entitled to 10 bags. Contact Nancy Durkin at 201-891-4000, ext. 3010 to make arrangements to pick-up the bags at the Department of Public Works, 500 DeKorte Drive (behind the Police Headquarters). Please bring your ID showing your address in Franklin Lakes.

Yard Waste Recycling - Recycle Right
The Borough is strongly encouraging residents to use brown recyclable bags to recycle yard waste. Recyclable yard waste materials include vegetation, plants, flowers, grass clippings and tree limbs or twigs three inches or less in diameter.

Curbside recycling collection of yard waste begins on Monday, April 4, for residents with a Tuesday - Friday garbage collection schedule and Tuesday, April 5, for residents with a Monday - Thursday garbage collection schedule. Yard waste must be placed in brown recyclable bags or loose in a reusable container with no liners. Each brown bag or container cannot weigh over 50 pounds.

What is Yard Waste?

Vegetation, Plants, Flowers and Grass Clippings
  • Yard waste must be placed in brown recyclable bags or loose in a reusable sturdy container with no liner.
  • Each brown bag or container cannot weigh over 50 pounds. 
  • Yard waste in plastic bags, landscaping barrels or not in a container will  not be collected.
  • Maximum of 4 bags can be placed out weekly.

 
Tree Limb or Twig Collection

  • Tree limbs or twigs 3 inches or less in diameter need to be cut and tied into 3 ft. x 3 ft. bundles weighing no more than 50 pounds.
  • Tree limbs or twigs not cut into sections and bundled will not be picked up.
